CASCADES CAMPGROUND

Public BBQ

A remote campground beside the Tuross where the river runs over cascades you can swim in, climb through or simply sit beside, with a walk to the Tuross Falls viewing platform from camp. Platypus are in the river. Two drop toilets, one in the day-use area and one down in the camping area, are both kept very clean, and there are designated fire pits for when no ban is in force. Booking is required and costs only a small site fee with no nightly charge. Two practical warnings: ground moisture rises hard here, so use a tarp under a swag or tent, and the booking system does not match reality, with several listed sites closed, rangers rarely checking this far out, and the ground found full of campers who never booked. Weeds and thistle are taking hold. There is no phone reception and the nearest town is an hour away.
